The Infamous Masterson’s , located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may look welcoming at first glance , what I experienced behind its entrance was shocking and unacceptable on multiple levels .
The State of Affairs: Filthy and Disregarded
From the moment I entered , it was apparent that sanitation was not a priority at this establishment . The floorboards were filthy, and a pungent odor of stale beer and uncleaned toilets permeated the entire pub. Emitting a scent of a mixture of human waste, decay and sickness . The bar area , which should be the focal point of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and refuse that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The bathroom was in even a more revolting state — clogged , with a cracked flush mechanism and walls stained in what I can only assume was human waste .
It wasn’t just a single bad experience either. From reading other reviews and speaking with locals , it seems that the state of cleanliness (or lack thereof) at this pub is a persistent problem . Many patrons have reported seeing bugs darting across the drink station and proof of vermin in the adjoining rooms. As I asked around, I was horrified to find reports against him involving misconduct , with multiple women citing incidents of harassing them digitally. Described as overly aggressive and violating, his actions has created an intimidating website space for women who visit Masterson’s. His presence at the bar often seemed closer to that of a lurking threat than a amiable manager.
